Introduction to SSB Interview

Understand the officer selection process, assessment stages and qualities evaluated by the Services Selection Board.

UNDERSTANDING THE SELECTION PROCESS

Your Journey Towards Becoming an Officer

There are several pathways to a commission as an officer in the Indian Armed Forces. These include entry routes after Class 12, graduation and postgraduate education, as well as opportunities for eligible serving personnel. Selection requirements depend on the particular entry and applicable rules.

For many officer-entry routes, candidates must successfully complete the Services Selection Board (SSB) assessment. The assessment evaluates personality, aptitude, behaviour and suitability for the responsibilities of an officer.

The SSB looks for Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) through psychological assessments, group activities and a personal interview. The board assesses candidates and recommends those considered suitable; final selection also depends on applicable medical standards, merit and entry-specific requirements.
